Maintenance Worker

Selectee works as a Maintenance Worker in the Facility Management/Maintenance Division of the Colonial National Historical Park.
Duty station for the positions will be located in Yorktown, Virginia or Jamestown, Virginia.
The primary purpose of this position is to perform work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, buildings and related utilities requiring the use of janitorial skills as well as a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting and other related trades.
The selectee of this position will operate light vehicles/equipment.
Duties of the position include but are not limited to:
Making repairs to buildings, preparing surfaces for painting and sanding, and painting Repairing and replacing standard plumbing fixtures, clearing simple stoppages, replacing washers and faucets.
Picking up trash and debris along roadway and parking areas and collecting trash from containers.
Operating heavy riding and push behind lawn mowers, weed-eaters, and other grounds care equipment as necessary.
Work may include custodial activities in restrooms and visitor centers.
Position Location:
Colonial National Historical Park is located in the Virginia Tidewater Region between the James and York Rivers, and includes Yorktown Battlefield, Historic Jamestown and the Colonial Parkway.
Williamsburg, Newport News, and Hampton are other cities that are nearby and provide a wide variety of rental units and residences for sale or rent, as well as other municipal services, including schools and colleges.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
