Maintenance Worker

Employee will perform a variety of park maintenance, repair, and operational duties on buildings, roads, and grounds. This includes:
making repairs to buildings; preparing surfaces for painting and sanding and painting surfaces; repair and replace standard plumbing fixtures, clear simple clogs, replace washers and faucets; custodial activities in restrooms and visitor centers; pickup trash and debris along roadway and parking areas, and collect trash from containers; operate heavy riding and push mowers, weed-eaters, and other grounds care equipment. These are Career-Seasonal positions and subject to release and recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of permanent employment, but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis. As such, selectee will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. Selectee is guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment. The typical season for Colonial National Historical Park is May through December, but can be variable during these months due to project requirements or weather conditions. Position Location:
Colonial National Historical Park is located in the Virginia Tidewater Region between the James and York Rivers, and is approximately 3 hours south of Washington, DC. The park, consisting of 8,677 acres, administers two of the most historically significant sites in English North America. Historic Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in North America in 1607 and Yorktown Battlefield, the final major battle of the American Revolutionary War in 1781. These two sites represent the beginning and end of English colonial America, and are connected by the 23-mile scenic Colonial Parkway. Colonial NHP has a variety of natural resources including extensive wetlands, forest, fields, shorelines and streams, as well as rare, threatened and endangered plants and animals. The nearby cities of Williamsburg, Newport News, and Hampton offer a wide variety of rental units and residences for sale or rent, as well as other municipal services, including schools and colleges. To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
